Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Albanian *lap-, from Proto-Indo-European *lh2p- (to lick, lap). Cognate to Ancient Greek λάπτω (láptō, to sip, lap) and Old Armenian լափեմ (lapʻem, to lick).[1]
