[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish مژده (müjde), borrowed from Classical Persian مُژْدَه (mužda, “good news”), from Parthian 𐫖𐫇𐫋𐫅𐫃 (mwjdg /muždag/, “(good) news, message”), from Proto-Iranian *miždám, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *miždʰám, from Proto-Indo-European *misdʰós. Related to Classical Persian مُزْد (muzd).
