Etymology

Tosk variant of Gheg mând, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Indo-European *men- ("to think"). Compare Latin mens, mentem ("mind"), Old English mynd (mind), Old High German gimunt (mind, memory), Danish minde (memory). A Latin borrowing, although possible, does not explain the Gheg form.

Pronunciation

Noun

mendje f (plural mendje, definite mendja, definite plural mendjet)

  1. mind
