Etymology 1[edit]

From Proto-Balto-Slavic [Term?] (whence also Latvian mirst, aizmirst, piemirst), from Proto-Indo-European *mer-s- (to forget, neglect; to confuse, trouble). Cognate with Sanskrit मृष् (mṛṣ, to forget, neglect; to disregard); see there for more cognates.[1]
