mormânt
Appearance
Romanian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Latin monumentum. Compare Aromanian murmintu, Sardinian morimentu. Doublet of the borrowing monument.
The /n/ to /r/ phonetical evolution is due to rhotacism which existed in some dialects of Old Romanian.
