Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish محتوی (muhtevi, which surrounds or contains a thing),[1][2] from Arabic مُحْتَوٍ (muḥtawin), active participle of اِحْتَوَى (iḥtawā, to contain).[3]
