From myelo-, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ancient Greek μυελός (muelós, marrow) + -cyte (cell), from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ancient Greek κύτος (kútos, container, receptacle).

myelocyte (plural myelocytes)

  1. a large cell, found in bone marrow, that becomes a granulocyte when mature
  2. a cell associated with the myelin of the brain and spinal cord
