Luxembourgish

Etymology

From older *niust, whence also Central Franconian nüüs, neist, and possibly (but improbably) East Central German nischt. Of somewhat unstraightforward origin, but eventually probably from Old High German niowiht, whence also net (not) and German nicht, nichts.

Pronunciation

Pronoun

näischt

  1. nothing
Och näischt gesot, ass eppes gesot.
To say nothing is to say something.
