From Proto-Nahuan *naawi, from Proto-Uto-Aztecan *na-wakay. (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?) Compare Classical Nahuatl nāhui (four). Cognate with Yaqui naiki (four), Hopi naalöyö' (four), and Central Tarahumara nawosa (four).
