Etymology

Of medieval Turkic origin, possibly named for Öz Beg Khan, ruler of the Golden Horde, whose name may have been adopted by Turkic tribes as an ethnonym. May be analyzed az oʻz (self) +‎ bek (bey). More at Uzbeks.
