Etymology[edit]
Borrowed from English plutonium, from English Pluto, from Ancient Greek Πλούτων (Ploútōn, “god of the underworld”), Ancient Greek πλοῦτος (ploûtos, “rich”), from Ancient Greek πλέω (pléō, “float, sail”), from Proto-Indo-European *plew- (“fly, flow, run”). Doublet of llyw (“rudder”).
