*Portocal (“Portugal”) +‎ -i (“related to”). *Portocal borrowed from a Romance language, from Latin Portucale.

Usage notes[edit]

Though Alcalá (1505) gives "Alanic" as a definition, Corriente (1997) believes it is inaccurate.
