Etymology

Probably from Latin prandēre, present active infinitive of prandeō, with change in conjugation, or from prânz. Compare Italian pranzare, Calabrian pranziare, Logudorese Sardinian prandere, Vegliot/Dalmatian prandar, Aromanian prãndzu, prãndzescu.
