[edit]Borrowed from a Slavic language, ultimately from Proto-Slavic *posъlъ, from *sъlъ (“messenger”).[1] Compare Proto-Slavic *sъlati (“to send”).[2] Dizdari suggests a borrowing from Turkish pusula.
