From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Albanian *kla(u)tja, from the Indo-European word for 'key'. Cognate to Ancient Greek κλεῖς (kleîs), Latin clāvis, Lithuanian kliaudýti (to stop, to prevent).[1]
