[edit]Reduced form of variant rrushajë, from Byzantine Greek ῥουσάλια (rhousália), from Latin rōsālia.

Etymology 2
[edit]Either identical to the aforementioned etymology or from rrëshqas (“to slide, slip”), a prefixal derivative of shqas/shkas (rrëshqanë (“crawling, dragging”) has a similar formation). Meyer likens it to the stem rrësh- while Barić to Latin vorrō.[1]
