Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Albanian *wribā, from Proto-Indo-European *werb- (“to turn, to bend”). Close to Lithuanian virbas (“rod, birch-rod, twig”), Proto-Slavic *vьrba (“pussy-willow”).[1]
