From Old Anatolian Turkish صندل (sandal, ṣandal, ṣandalī, "seat, bench, throne"), from Arabic صَنْدَل(ṣandal, sandalwood) (borrowed synecdochically), from Middle Persian cndl(čandal, sandalwood), from Sanskrit चन्दन(candana, sandalwood). Compare English sandal.
