From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Turkic *sEč- (to choose, select).[1] Cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (seç-, to choose, discern), Turkish seçmek (to choose, distinguish), Turkmen seçmek (to choose), Yakut эс- (es-, throw away).
