Etymology 1[edit]

Either from Proto-Germanic *sarkiz (shirt, armour, hauberk), via Gothic or from Proto-Slavic *sorka (shirt). Schuhard and Meyer claim a borrowing from either Latin serica or Latin sarica[1]
