Gheg variant of Old Tosk (Budi) çpih, from Proto-Albanian dis- and *pīska, from Proto-Indo-European *pih₁-sḱe/o-, from *peh₁-i- ‘to taunt’ (compare Old English fēon ‘to hate’, Sanskrit [script needed] ‎(pī́yati) ‘scorns, blames’).[1]
