Etymology[edit]

Old Swedish skörlifnadher, same as Old Danish skjørlevned. skör +‎ levnad. From skör, meaning weak, brittle, fragile; but which earlier also meant weak in moral, immoral, lightminded, frivolous, unchaste, whorish.
