[edit]From Old Norse sløkkva, from Proto-Germanic *slakwjaną. Probably not related to English slake, which originally meant “to weaken”.[1]
Verb
[edit]slökkva (weak verb, third-person singular past indicative slökkti, supine slökkt)
- (with accusative) to extinguish, to put out
- Slökktu á perunum.
- Turn off the lights.
