From stră- +‎ luci, or from Vulgar Latin *extralūcīre or *tralūcīre < *lūcīre, from Latin lucēre (shine). Compare Calabrian stralucire, Friulian stralusî, Engadine Romansch stral’üzir, Bellinzona dialect straluce, Romansch traglischar.
