Etymology

Related to sănătate. Possibly from Vulgar Latin [herba] *sanatōria, from Late Latin sanatōrius, from Latin sanō. This form came to be influenced by the verb suna (cf. sunător) in Romanian, altered through popular etymology deriving it from that verb.
