[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish صوسام (susam), from older سیسم (sisam), from either Arabic سِمْسِم (simsim) or Ancient Greek σήσαμον (sḗsamon), both from Aramaic שומשומא (šumššemā, “sesame”).
