From archaic and dialectal shutë, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Albanian *tšuktā, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Indo-European *ḱuk- (compare Lithuanian šùkōs (comb; heckle) (pl.)). Compare Romanian ciută.
