Italian[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Probably from Ancient Greek τηγάνιον (tēgánion), diminutive of τήγανον (tḗganon), variant of τάγηνον (tágēnon). Another theory links it to Latin tegumen, through a Vulgar Latin *tegamen.
