Albanian

Etymology

Unclear. From Proto-Indo-European *dʰonu (fir), with phonetic problems. Compare Ancient Greek θάμνος (thámnos, thicket), Hittite [script needed] (tanau, fir), German Tann (woods), Tanne (fir), Breton tann (red oak). Alternatively from Proto-Albanian *tsàna, from earlier Mediterranean (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Lua error in Module:parameters at line 291: Parameter 1 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "qfa-sub" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E. word *ḱastnà. Compare Ancient Greek κᾰ́στᾰνᾰ (kástana, chestnut) and Old Armenian կասկ (kask).
