From Proto-Pama-Nyungan *ci(:)rni. Compare Yir-Yoront then, thenelh, thene "penis", YMel then "penis", Koko-Bera then "tail", Central and Eastern Arrernte arne "tree; stick; thing", and Western Arrernte irne "tree; stick".
