Etymology

Ultimately a derivation of Proto-Turkic *tod- (“become satiated, full”) and a doublet of doyğun, therefore equivalent to *tos- +‎ -qun. The first syllable coda /-s/ points towards borrowing of a reflex with a /-ð/, with subsequent devoicing .
