From Arabic اَلتُّرْمُس (at-turmus), from Aramaic תורמוסא /‎ ܬܘܪܡܣܐ (tūrmūsā, lupine), from Akkadian 𒋻𒄷 (TAR.MUŠ8 /⁠tarmuš⁠/), from Sumerian 𒋻𒄷 (TAR.MUŠ8 /⁠tarmuš⁠/).
