Etymology

From Proto-Baltic *turētei, from Proto-Indo-European *turH-yé-ti, from Proto-Indo-European *twerH- (to enclose, grab). Cognate to Latvian turēt, Latin tueor, Old Church Slavonic творити (tvoriti).[1]
