Etymology

By surface analysis, turmann (tour man) +‎ rot (root). Originally from Latin tormentilla, possibly through *turmanntille, whence also other dialectal names of tormentil, such as tillimann, rennskitstille (diarrhea calm) and tellerot (count root).
