From Old Swedish væg f, vægger m, from Old Norse veggr. Cognates include Danish væg, Faroese and Icelandic veggur, Gothic *𐍅𐌰𐌳𐌳𐌾𐌿𐍃 (*waddjus) and Norwegian vegg.[1]
