Etymology[edit]

From Ottoman Turkish یورك(yürek), from Old Turkic [script needed] (yürek) , from Proto-Turkic *yürek, *yür- (heart; courage).

Maybe related to Proto-Mongolic *jirüken (heart), whence Mongolian зүрх (zürkh) and Daur jurgw. Cognate with Azerbaijani ürək.
