Etymology

From Middle Chinese 鸚鵡 (ʔˠɛŋ mɨoX) + (MC tsiX). Cognate with Tocharian A yamutsi and Sogdian 𐼽𐼷𐼺𐼰𐼴𐽂𐼼𐼷 (ʿymʾwtsy /⁠ēmūtsi⁠/).[1]
