From Ottoman Turkish یاغمور (yağmur, “rain”), from Proto-Turkic *yag-mur (“rain”), derived from *yag- (“to rain”). See yağ- (“to rain”). Cognate with Karakhanid يَغْمُرْ (yaɣmur, “rain”).
