Etymology

Cognate with Azerbaijani igid, Bashkir егет (yeget), Crimean Tatar yiğit, Gagauz yit, Karaim iğit, Karakalpak jigit,(deprecated template usage) [etyl] Kazakh, Kyrgyz жигит (jigit), Nogai йигит (yigit), Karachay-Balkar джигит (cigit), Southern Altai јиит (ǰiit) or јигит (ǰigit), Tatar егет (yeget), Uyghur يىگىت (yigit), Uzbek yigit, Shor чиңет etc.
