αντικαταβάλλω (antikatavállo) +‎ (-i), from Ancient Greek ἀντικαταβάλλω (antikatabállō), from ἀντι- (anti-) +‎ καταβάλλω (katabállō). For the modern sense of "cash on delivery", calque of French contre remboursement.
