Etymology[edit]

Either from stem κρυοπαγη- of Katharevousa verb κρυοπαγῶ (kruopagô) + -μα (-ma),[1] or[2] a free translation of English frostbite. For the combining forms, see κρύο n (krýo, cold) and πάγος m (págos, frost, ice).
