Etymology

[edit]

From earlier *հուրեայ (*hureay), from Classical Syriac ܝܗܘܕܝܐ (ʾīhūḏāyāʾ, yūḏāyāʾ) +‎ -եայ (-eay). The ending may be directly from Syriac, contaminated with the suffix -եայ (-eay).
