Etymology[edit]
Borrowed from Georgian ფოცხოვი (pocxovi), perhaps from earlier ბოცოს ხევი (bocos xevi, “Boco's ravine”), from the personal name ბოცო (boco) + ხევი (xevi, “ravine”). This town is home of an important Meskhetian community.
