Etymology

[edit]

Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘄𑘨𑘜𑘹 (uraṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀉𑀯𑁆𑀯𑀭𑀺𑀅 (uvvaria, past participle), 𑀉𑀯𑁆𑀯𑀭𑀁𑀢 (uvvaraṃta, present participle) (compare Sanskrit उर्वरित (urvarita, left, left over)). Cognate with Hindustani اُبَرْنَا (ubarnā) / उबरना (ubarnā, to be kept in reserve, to be left over), Sindhi اُٻِرَڻُ / उॿिरणु.
