    Inherited from Prakrit 𑀚𑀡𑁆𑀡𑁄𑀯𑀯𑀻𑀅 (jaṇṇovavīa), from Sanskrit यज्ञोपवीत (yajñopavītá). Cognate to Konkani जान्वें (zānvễ), Marathi जानवे (j̈ānve).
