Particularly: “The last syllable is quite likely to be (la., moon). According to Luce, the first two syllables, *တန်နှင် (*tanhnang), mean "governor", adducing Old Chinese (OC *tjeŋs, “government”) as a cognate,[1] so Monday would mean something like "governor of the moon".”
