Etymology 2[edit]
From Proto-Indo-European *pulu-. Cognates include Sanskrit पुलक (pulaka), Irish ulcha. However, Beekes connects the word with πύλιγξ (púlinx, “curls”) and suggests a Pre-Greek origin.
