Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Turkic *dɨrŋa- (to scratch, scrape).

Cognate with Bashkir тырма (tırma), Uzbek tirma (rake).

Compare also with Kazakh тырма (tyrma, rake), Southern Altai тырмууш (tïrmuuš, rake) - these are derived from the same root, but using other affixes.
