Etymology[edit]

From *լուսեմ (*lusem), from *լուս- (*lus-), from Proto-Indo-European *ḱlu-n-s-, from *ḱlew- (to hear). Related to լուր (lur), լուռ (luṙ), լու (lu).

Verb[edit]

լսեմ (lsem)  (aorist indicative լուայ)

  1. to hear; to listen to
    չլսելոյն, չլուելոյն առնելčʿlseloyn, čʿlueloyn aṙnel ― to turn a deaf ear to
    լուայ զիluay zi ― I have heard it said that
    լուարո՛ւք ինձluarúkʿ inj ― listen to me, hear me!
    ոչ լսեն ինձočʿ lsen inj ― they do not listen to me
    լսել զչար հոտlsel zčʿar hot ― to perceive the foul odour
  2. to grant, to hearken to the prayer of
    լո՛ւր մեզlúr mez ― hearken to us, grant our prayer!
