Etymology[edit]

From *լուսեմ (*lusem), from *լուս- (*lus-), from Proto-Indo-European *ḱluns-, from *ḱlew- (to hear). Related to լուր (lur), լուռ (luṙ), լու (lu).

Verb[edit]

լսեմ (lsem)  (aorist indicative լուայ)

  1. to hear; to listen to
    չլսելոյն, չլուելոյն առնելčʻlseloyn, čʻlueloyn aṙnelto turn a deaf ear to
    լուայ զիluay ziI have heard it said that
    լուարո՛ւք ինձluarúkʻ injlisten to me, hear me!
    ոչ լսեն ինձočʻ lsen injthey do not listen to me
    լսել զչար հոտlsel zčʻar hotto perceive the foul odour
  2. to grant, to hearken to the prayer of
    լո՛ւր մեզlúr mezhearken to us, grant our prayer!
  3. to understand
