Inherited from Proto-Turkic *biagïr (liver); cognate with Azerbaijani bağır, Bashkir бауыр (bawır), Chuvash пӗвер (pĕver), Kazakh бауыр (bauyr), Kyrgyz боор (boor), Turkmen bagyr, Uyghur بېغىر (bëghir), Uzbek bag'ir and Yakut быар (bıar).
