Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Proto-Turkic *biagïr (“liver”); cognate with Azerbaijani bağır, Bashkir бауыр (bawır), Chuvash пӗвер (pĕver), Kazakh бауыр (bauyr), Kyrgyz боор (boor), Turkmen bagyr, Uyghur بېغىر (bëghir), Uzbek bag'ir and Yakut быар (bıar).
